Enbridge Awards United Way a Fueling Futures Grant

Enbridge has provided a Fueling Futures Leadership Grant to United Way of Payne County.

The Enbridge Fueling Futures Employee Volunteering and Giving Program recognizes board service through Leadership Grants – a $1,000 grant available to employees and eligible contractors who serve on the board of directors at an eligible community nonprofit.

“Enbridge is energizing communities through initiatives that strengthen community safety, vibrancy and sustainability,” Latina Simmons, Enbridge administrative assistant, said. “Enbridge is proud to support local priorities that make positive and lasting impacts in our communities.”

Latina Simmons works at Enbridge and volunteers on United Way's board of directors. She was awarded the Leadership Grant providing United Way of Payne County with a $1,000 donation. Simmons is instrumental in organizing events in Cushing that benefit United Way each year, including the Day of Caring volunteer event and the Black Cat Golf Tournament.

“I became involved with United Way because I believe in the good that they are doing for our community,” Simmons said.

"Enbridge has an amazing commitment to our community and United Way is fortunate to have a great board member working there," Ruth Cavins, United Way of Payne County executive director, said. "These dollars will count towards our annual campaign which assist 25,000 Payne County residents annually."

United Way of Payne County's annual campaign begins in September and will have a goal of $1 million. The United Way has been serving the Payne County community for 70 years. They invest donated dollars in their 22 nonprofit, partner agencies to improve the health, education and financial stability of every citizen in Payne County.
